CRASH AND BURN!!!

On Wednesday, Brooklee and I traveled on the fancy Redskin bus with the Softball players to our game against Round Valley. Let me just say what a great day it was to play some softball. At times we had snow flurries, but all the time we had wind. It was about the 2nd inning, I decided to walk up a hill to get something from one of the players mom and when I started to make my adventure back down the hill, I crashed and burned bad. I don't know how it happened, but all I remember is my knee completely giving out and I hit the ground hard. I screamed as loud as I could, but no one could hear me. It was a way intense game so everyone's focus was obviously on that. Once one of the coaches saw me squirming around and the tears rolling down my face, they all started to run to my aid. I can honestly tell you that giving birth to Brooklee was a field trip compared to what I have experienced. Luckily, Spence Udall who is a volunteer EMT for the City of St. Johns was there watching his daughter play and was able to keep me calm, cool and collective until the paramedics got there. Which by the way seemed forever. Nic was working out at the plant that day and luckily Brooklee was with Nic's mom, my sister-in-law, Jane and her three kids. I asked someone to call Nic to let him know what was going on. When the paramedics arrived they loaded me up in the ambulance and took me to the local hospital in Springerville. I think the driver found every pothole known to man between the softball field and the parking lot of the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital, I was completely in happy land because of the medicine they gave me at the field. I was started to relax until I saw Nic and my tears could not stop flowing. I am so thankful he was able to arrive there the same time as the ambulance did. My best friend, Tami Pearce was also at the hospital shortly after Nic got there. She had been shopping over in Round Valley that day and had no idea what happened to me until Nic had given her a call. The paramedics, the doctor, the nurses and everyone at the field all thought my knee was completely shattered or broken. The hospital experience was okay except for one thing. THE X-RAY TECHNICIAN GUY! I know he was just trying to do his job, but he was not soft by any sense of the word. Nic kept telling me to breathe and be nice. I guess I was pretty cranky when I was in the ER.. After the x-rays were taken the doctor decided my knee cap was completely dislocated and he needed to set it back into place. I told him I did not want to be awake for that so they put me to sleep. THANK YOU!!!! When I woke up, Nic was over at the pharmacy getting my pain meds before they closed. When he got back he said it only took four seconds to put my knee cap back into place. However, he then stated he was a little disappointed because he was hoping to hear a "pop" and he didn't. I told him I was so sorry that I let him down. After I was released from the hospital Nic and I decided the trip home to St. Johns would not of been a good one to make so Nic's mom and dad graciously allowed us to invade their home for the night. I was so thankful for all of their hospitality. Nic's Mom made me feel as comfortable as I possibly could be. Thanks again Mom! I want to take some time and thank everyone who was there at the field trying to keep my spirits high, those of you who offered to take Brooklee and those who drove to the hospital to be with me. You all took such good care of me and your support and love has been felt tremendously. The support that this community gives when someone needs it is simply AMAZING! Nic and I know this is where we were supposed to live. We have had lunches and dinners brought into us since we got home on Thursday and countless visitors. My Mom, Dad and my little brother came over Thursday night to visit us. (P.S. Thanks Dad for coming that night even though you drove to the valley and back the same day. And Danny I know you would not of visited me if it weren’t for a pretty girl who happens to live in the same town that we do. And I am not talking about Brooklee. But thanks for coming over to see me anyways!!!) I have such a caring and excellent husband. He has been by my side every step of the way. He has been a real trooper. Thank you for allowing me to share my story of complete embarrassment. Love you all!

REDSKIN SOFTBALL

I have been given a wonderful opportunity this year to be an assistant coach to the JV and Varsity softball team for St. Johns High School. Let me just say one thing first... the girls on these teams are simply amazing. They bring so much laughter into my life. Some days at practice I get a little teary eyed thinking of all the fun times I had playing softball in high school. And sometimes, well all the time I wish I could put on that Yellow Jacket jersey just one more time. (Even though I live in St. Johns, I will always bleed purple and gold!) I haven't been able to take many pictures so far in the season. I think its because I keep forgetting my camera) so I decided to take the camera with me to our game this past Saturday. We had the chance to play Pinon. Yeah we won!!!!! We definitetly should of had more runs in the scorebook but a "W is a W!" At least thats what one of my old high school coaches used to tell us!!!

Hanging Out With The Cousins

Well. I turned the BIG 24 this past week and Nic had asked me how I wanted to spend my day. I told him I wanted to go up on the mountain and just enjoy being with each other. Since we would be passing through Round Valley, we decided to stop by Aaron and Jane's to see Brodey, Nellie and Jax. Of course, when we pulled into their driveway Brooklee couldn't get out of her carseat fast enough. She loves to spend time with them and believe me she hates it when we have to go. I can't believe how fast these four kiddos are growing!! They get cuter and cuter everyday. So here is just a quick photo I snapped while I had all of their attention.
